The difficulty lies not so much in developing new ideas as in escaping from old ones. – John Maynard Keynes
I love working with my clients and artfully creating heirloom images for them! There are times, however, when I really find myself needing a completely creative project. These are often a great way for me to reset a rut or feeling drained.
The past few months have been pretty crazy for me with soooo many shoots, tying up end of the season weddings, a broken ankle, a death in my familly, and an impending surgery for kidney stones….on top of the typical stresses heading into the holiday season. My soul ached for a fun shoot, just for me to play, create, and rejuvenate.
Just after Thanksgiving, things came together to allow me to do just that. An opening in the dance studio kitty corner from my own studio, as well as the availablility of two of my favorite ballerinas, a rare morning off from my day job, and my desire to practice a lighting technique culminated in an amazing hour or so of shooting some of what quickly became images that I am most proud of.
It’s kinda funny how doing these shoots gives me a refreshed vision for upcoming sessions, business goals, and an intense desire to do more of these! I think I may try to carve out time for purely creative sessions every couple of months.
